Welcome to the Climate Concern Collective, an organization dedicated to understanding and mitigating the threats posed by climate change to communities worldwide. Our mission is to map and record the social and physical structures of communities, analyzing their history, development, and future to help them adapt to challenges like rising sea levels and changing weather patterns.
Driven by firsthand experiences with climate impacts, we aim to monitor and address these threats. As Michael Mann notes in Our Fragile Moment, human civilization thrives within a narrow climate envelope now at risk. We focus on preparing communities for these changes, whether through adaptation or managed migration to prevent conflicts historically associated with displacement.
Our approach includes:
Our data informs recommendations on whether communities can remain in place or need to relocate, ensuring sustainable adaptation to climate challenges.
Mapped social and physical structures of Gulf Coast communities to develop flood control strategies, reducing displacement risks.
Collaborated with housing cooperatives to integrate green infrastructure, addressing heatwaves and flooding.
